Raise our taxes by $0.25 to fix potholes? What else is new.
Close the DMV on Fridays? Fine, whatever.
Charge me $65.00 for an expired parking meter? Doesn’t make sense, but life goes on.
Take away money from our schools? Not so fast!
In January LAUSD approved a budget of $246,000 for our Porter Ranch Community School which would be implemented to continue the Pilot Program. But just recently the State of California passed what’s called the “Local Care Funding Formula” for education which would effectively reduce our initially approved budget down to a mere $24,900.
This cannot happen, the LCFF cannot move forward. If it does our Korean dual-language program will be completely wiped out and that is just the beginning. Whether we have children who attend the school, children who will attend in the future, or no children at all this inequity will drastically affect our entire Porter Ranch community in many ways.
Tonight there will be a Town Hall Meeting at Shepherd of the Hills hosted by Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council. Please come out and shout out against this, let our voice be heard that this is wholly unacceptable. Let Sacramento know “Don’t Mess With Our Kids!”
